Fire-Lite is typically chosen when a building needs a listed commercial fire alarm system with intelligent detection but does not need a multi-node campus network or a large integrated voice platform. Typical contexts — examples, not a service area — include tenant fit-outs, standalone commercial buildings, and replacements of older conventional panels that have outgrown zone-only information. Fire-Lite, Notifier, and Silent Knight are all Honeywell Fire brands; a specification often picks among them by channel, price band, and how large the system is expected to grow. Fire-Lite is the more compact end of that set.
The ES-50X series is the small Endurance addressable panel — one SLC for a modest device count, often used where a conventional panel would once have been specified. The ES-200X series is the same Endurance platform with a larger point budget, common on small commercial buildings that want point identification. The MS-9600 family (including MS-9600LS and UDLS variants) is the long-running higher-capacity Fire-Lite addressable line for buildings that outgrow the smaller Endurance panels. Conventional MS-2, MS-4, MS-5UD, and MS-10UD panels use zone-style initiating circuits and remain common where the design is simple. Legacy MS-9050UD and MS-9200 panels are still in service; replacement mapping is a submittal item, not something to assume from a website. Capacities and communicators vary by SKU — confirm current data sheets.
Addressable Fire-Lite panels talk to detectors and modules on an SLC using the LiteSpeed protocol; detectors report as individual points, monitor modules bring in waterflow, tamper, or hood contacts, and control modules drive ancillary functions. NACs typically drive horns, horn-strobes, and strobes, with built-in sync options that must match the installed appliance family. Voice evacuation is not the centre of the Fire-Lite story. Programming orientation: operator functions (silence, reset, acknowledge, history) are separate from installer programming, which sits behind an installer password. Endurance panels program from the front panel or Fire-Lite's FS-Tools utility; the older MS-9600 family uses the earlier tool chain and the two are not interchangeable. Auto-learn inventories hardware but does not write room labels. Change the factory installer password at commissioning — this site does not publish factory codes, field tables, or wiring procedures.
