Notifier — mid to large and networked systems

Who the line is for

Notifier shows up when the project needs more than a single small panel: higher point counts, network nodes, integrated digital voice, firefighter telephone, releasing, or a building standard that already names Notifier. It is also specified on smaller buildings when an owner or campus standard is Notifier and spare parts, tools, and service knowledge are already standardised. Compared with Fire-Lite, Notifier is the platform reached for when the drawing set includes a network riser, multiple operator workstations, or voice evacuation. Compared with Silent Knight, it is more often the specified engineered-systems brand.

Typical panel families

Two generations matter on real jobs. The ONYX families are still the installed-base language: NFS-320 is the smaller single-node intelligent panel used on smaller occupancies and as a campus edge panel; NFS2-640 is the common mid-building ONYX FACP, often paired with Digital Voice Command when the spec includes audio; NFS2-3030 is the large multi-loop panel used on big buildings and as a network node. INSPIRE N16 is the current scalable touchscreen platform, with N16e as the smaller configured persona and N16x as the expanded modular persona. ONYX panels network over NOTI-FIRE-NET; INSPIRE participates in current Notifier networking and Honeywell CLSS when a gateway is part of the job. Whether a specific ONYX node and a new N16 node can share a network is a current-literature question, not something to assume.

Detection, voice, and programming

Notifier intelligent detectors and modules sit on signaling line circuits. FlashScan is the faster polling protocol for current intelligent devices; CLIP is the older protocol still required for some legacy points, and a loop's device list must match what the panel and firmware allow. Larger occupancies add Digital Voice Command style audio: speaker circuits, paging, and sometimes firefighter telephone on a designed riser — audio is its own design problem, not a checkbox. Logic, releasing, elevator recall, and HVAC control are programmed relationships between input and output points, and on a networked system those relationships span nodes. Programming orientation: ONYX work is built with Notifier's VeriFire-class tools plus front-panel edits; INSPIRE uses the current INSPIRE/CLSS tool chain and is not VeriFire with a new icon. Version lock between tool and firmware is a frequent cause of failed downloads. Change factory-level programmer and service passwords; this site publishes no factory codes and no field tables.
