Honeywell Fire FACP for small to mid-size commercial buildings: Endurance Series addressable panels, MS-9600, and conventional MS-series.
Honeywell Fire FACP for mid-size through large and networked systems: ONYX families and the newer INSPIRE N16 platform.
Honeywell Fire FACP for mid-market addressable systems: 6000 Series panels (6700, 6808, 6820) and related IFP families.
Edwards / Carrier FACP for institutional and large commercial work: EST4, legacy EST3, and iO Series with Signature-series devices.
Honeywell / Resideo security controls, not a FACP: VISTA-15P and VISTA-20P burglary panels with optional fire zones. Use a listed FACP when the occupancy requires a fire alarm system.

This is orientation, not a field procedure. Intervals, methods, and required records come from the adopted fire code, NFPA 72 as adopted, the listing and manufacturer instructions, and the AHJ. There is no universal calendar that applies to every building.
The fire alarm control panel (FACP) is the listed brain of a building fire alarm system. It supervises circuits, evaluates device signals, and decides when to alarm, trouble, or supervise.
Detection reports into the panel. The panel drives notification, watches power and wiring integrity, and can pass alarm, trouble, and supervisory signals to a supervising station.
A new or altered system is typically accepted only after the testing the adopted code and the AHJ require. After acceptance, the owner is responsible for inspection, testing, and maintenance. What is due, how it is done, and what is recorded come from the adopted edition (often NFPA 72 as adopted), manufacturer instructions, and any AHJ conditions - not from a generic website schedule. Typical examples include confirming the panel still indicates normal, trouble, and alarm correctly, and that initiating and notification circuits still report. Use the AHJ and the adopted edition for the actual program.
Smoke and heat detectors, manual pull stations, and modules that watch sprinkler waterflow or valve tamper switches are the initiating side of the system. They report into the FACP.
The panel only knows what these devices tell it. Placement, listing, and circuit supervision are part of making that report trustworthy. Waterflow and tamper are often supervisory or alarm inputs defined by the design and the adopted code.
Acceptance testing usually includes a functional test of initiating devices so the AHJ can see that each required device reports to the panel. Periodic inspection, testing, and maintenance after that follow the adopted code and the AHJ, plus manufacturer instructions (for example, sensitivity or functional checks on smoke detectors, and operation of waterflow and tamper devices). Methods and intervals are not the same in every occupancy. Do not use a copied schedule; use the adopted edition and the AHJ.
Horns, speakers, strobes, and related appliances tell occupants to evacuate or relocate. Voice evacuation is common in larger buildings.
The FACP (and any associated amplifiers or power supplies that are part of the listed system) turns a panel decision into audible and visible warning. Notification is not a substitute for detection or for a supervising station.
Acceptance typically includes operating notification appliances so the AHJ can confirm they function as required in the areas they cover. Periodic testing after occupancy follows the adopted fire code, NFPA 72 as adopted, manufacturer instructions, and the AHJ. Typical examples are a functional test of horns, speakers, strobes, and voice messages where those are installed. Candela, speaker wattage, and circuit math belong in the approved documents — not in a generic how-to.
Primary power, standby batteries, and supervised wiring exist so faults are found before an emergency, not during one.
The FACP and notification appliances depend on this power path. A trouble for loss of primary power or a battery fault is how the system asks for service before it cannot alarm.
Acceptance and periodic programs usually include checking primary power, standby batteries, and that wiring supervision still reports a fault. Battery replacement and load testing follow the listing, manufacturer instructions, and the adopted edition — not a one-size interval published here. The AHJ and the approved documents set what is due for that building.
Many systems report alarm, trouble, and supervisory signals to a supervising station when the building is unoccupied or local response needs backup.
Monitoring is downstream of the FACP. It does not replace a listed fire alarm system, and it is not the same as a burglar-alarm central station hanging off a security panel.
Where monitoring is required, acceptance and ongoing tests usually include confirming that the signals the AHJ cares about actually arrive as alarm, trouble, or supervisory. Who receives those signals, and how often the path is tested, come from the adopted code, the monitoring agreement, and the AHJ. This site does not assign a runner, a form number, or a city rule.
A burglary control with optional fire zones (including Honeywell / Resideo VISTA-15P and VISTA-20P) can watch some smoke or heat devices for a premises alarm. It is not a fire alarm control panel.
Those fire zones do not make a listed building fire alarm system. Use a listed FACP when the adopted code or the AHJ requires a building fire alarm system — not because an occupancy name appears on a list by itself.
Security-panel fire zones are serviced as part of that security system, under whatever the AHJ and the listing allow. They are not a substitute for the inspection, testing, and maintenance program that applies to a building fire alarm system. If the occupancy requires a FACP, the AHJ’s fire-alarm acceptance and periodic testing apply to that FACP, not to a Vista-style control.
Informational only. Not a design, installation, or service manual. Always follow the adopted code, the listing, manufacturer instructions, and the authority having jurisdiction.
